Petro Poroshenko stated this today during a reception on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, the press service of the presidential administration reports.

According to Poroshenko, Russia’s goal is “to split Ukraine, destroy its economy, and destroy its chances of becoming a full member of the democratic European community.”

“But there is a second goal. To no less an extent, this aggression is aimed at splitting the unity of the European Union and splitting the transatlantic partnership. This is the goal that the Russian military and propaganda machine sets for itself and, unfortunately, sometimes successfully implements,” Poroshenko emphasized.
