Poroshenko offers Merkel a Ukrainian rusty pipe in exchange for stopping Nord Stream
Ukraine is trying to exchange the right to participate in the management of its gas transportation system for stopping the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced this today to students of Kyiv National University.
“We are actively negotiating with Germany. We invite them to create an international consortium to manage the state gas transport system of Ukraine. But the condition for participation is to stop Nord Stream 2,” Poroshenko said.
He said that Ukraine is creating a group in the European Union that should oppose Nord Stream 2, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our partners in the US are also determined. No one will go against US sanctions. I am confident that with our joint efforts we will be able to stop him. Because this is an absolutely political project that is directed against Ukraine and does not have a single economic component,” Poroshenko said.
