Moscow - Kyiv, April 7 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Poroshenko did not offer Putin to “take back Donbass,” political analyst Taras Chernovol is sure. According to him, Poroshenko suggested that Putin finance the Donbass as long as it is occupied, in response to Putin’s proposal that the region continue to be financed by Ukraine.

Taras Chornovil said "NG" that he knows exactly where the information released by Forbes came from. According to him, the conversation between the presidents, which Vladimir Putin allegedly mentioned, took place at the time of preparation of the Minsk Agreements-2, in February. “If the word “take away” is removed from the statement that, as the Russian publication writes, Putin made at a meeting with industrialists, then everything will fall into place. Then, that’s how it was: the Russian delegation at the negotiations emphasized Ukraine’s obligation to finance the occupied territory of Donbass, restore the infrastructure there, revive production (after the main factories were moved to the territory of the Russian Federation), that is, pay, pay and pay again. At the same time, Russia did not promise or guarantee anything; their representatives imposingly said that they could only try to facilitate negotiations with the militants on normalizing the situation in the east,” the expert said.

According to him, Petro Poroshenko harshly said that there could be no “trying to contribute”: “Ukraine demands, firstly, the withdrawal of all illegal armed groups from the region, including Russian so-called volunteers. Secondly, close the border and establish OSCE control over border crossings. Only after this can we talk about restoration and financing. And until these conditions are met, Ukraine will not transfer a single penny to Donbass.” Chornovil admitted that in his hearts the Ukrainian president could say something like that while the territory is occupied, let the Russian side provide it with everything necessary: “But this, excuse me, is certainly not a proposal to “take back Donbass.”

Chornovil admitted that after the February meeting in question, there were still some negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian leadership. And that the parties did not reach agreement: “This is understandable. Russia does not need Donbass. Russia needs to constantly pull the strings in Donbass in order to destabilize the situation in Ukraine. And for this it is necessary to ensure that Ukraine finances the occupied territory, weakening itself. I think the publication did not appear by chance: only a week ago, Kiev again officially announced that those who send “humanitarian convoys” bear responsibility for the lives of people in Donbass, for the impending social catastrophe there, for rampant banditry, for all this chaos - Russia . I think the scandalous publication is a response to our statement.”
