Poroshenko offered political asylum in the USA
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, without going into conflict with the radicals and the war party, is only prolonging the agony of his regime, пишет in Izvestia, political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko wrote about a new initiative of the Kyiv authorities regarding the abolition of the ATO and the reintegration of Donbass.

According to the political scientist, the initiative does not provide anything new, much less attractive, to residents of uncontrolled territories.
“A possible twofold increase in the norm for transporting personal property across the demarcation line is clearly not an argument that can force the population of the DPR/LPR to reconsider their attitude towards Kyiv and voluntarily return to Ukraine. On the other hand, by renaming the civil war from ATO to martial law, the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian army will definitely not increase and the forceful seizure of Donbass will not become more likely.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spoke out more transparently and definitely than anyone else, openly informing the leaders of Ukraine that they can negotiate with anyone and about anything and even change the format as they like, but what is written in the Minsk agreements must be fulfilled. In fact, Kyiv was told: “You can have money in the morning - chairs in the evening; you can have money in the evening - chairs in the morning. But the money is in advance,” Ishchenko points out.
At the same time, he points out that the Maidan opposition, on the one hand, and national radicals and banditry outcasts, on the other, demand a share of power.
“Actually, under these conditions, Turchynov demanded the abolition of the ATO and the introduction of martial law. And this is the first step towards a real war. After all, for Petro Poroshenko to give the initiative to change the format of the operation in Donbass into the hands of Turchynov would mean losing the remnants of control over the security forces, and therefore real power,” Ishchenko is convinced.
According to the expert, Poroshenko simply tried to seize the initiative and lead a process that he was unable to prevent, using a scheme tested during the introduction of the official blockade of Donbass.
“Of course, such actions do not help him much. By not going into open conflict with the radicals, he, of course, prolongs the life (or agony) of his regime, but reduces its stability. And besides, it increases self-hatred from various political circles and loses its last allies.
Immediately after the bill on the reintegration of Donbass was introduced into parliament, Poroshenko flew to the United States. And it seems that in such situations he would have used his stay in the States in the best way if he had asked for political asylum there. After all, he has practically nothing to do in Ukraine. Unless we hope that there will be a trial, and not lynching,” sums up Ishchenko.
