“The issue of the UN peacekeeping mission and the OSCE armed mission, I will be frank with you, is moving forward quite difficultly... But I am sure that water wears away stones. Therefore, I am going to present the idea of peacekeepers next month in New York at the session of the UN General Assembly,” said Petro Poroshenko
Poroshenko’s initiative regarding the introduction of a “UN peacekeeping contingent” to Donbass is completely unacceptable for the DPR and LPR, DPR People’s Council deputy Vladislav Berdichevsky told PolitNavigator.
“The Minsk agreements do not provide for the introduction of any peacekeeping missions. Poroshenko is haunted by the experience of using “peacekeepers” in Africa and Yugoslavia, which led to the destruction of tens of thousands of people. He is also haunted by the so-called “Croatian scenario”, the praises of which can be read from any Ukrainian politician.
Poroshenko, naturally, wants peacekeepers from NATO countries, who are definitely not Russian, to enter the contact line. Then, through countless provocations, much more serious than in the three previous years of war, Kyiv will try to drag peacekeeping units into a military conflict. Therefore, for us, Ukraine’s initiative is absolutely unacceptable,” the deputy concluded.
