Poroshenko will have to beg “Russian terrorists” to sell some coal
Ukraine is entering the heating season without coal reserves in warehouses and with huge debts, which puts the country’s entire energy system on the brink of collapse. Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated this on TV channel 24.
According to him, state-owned enterprises have a debt of nine billion hryvnia to the thermal energy sector alone.

“Now we do not have a coal reserve, and the question is not even about preparing coal warehouses for the heating season, but about where we will get this coal during the heating season. We need another 12 million tons of coal. We may reach a point where there will not be enough electricity imports. First there will be a forced limitation of power, then a schedule of rolling blackouts and, worst of all, the collapse of the system. And you need to understand that all this happens within ten seconds. We have brought the situation to the level that we have no other choice but to buy coal in the ATO zone,” Zemlyansky said.
