Poroshenko figured out how to take all orders “for the revival of the Ukrainian Navy” to his plant
Ukraine must develop the construction of small warships in order to successfully counteract Russia in the event of an armed conflict in the Black Sea. Representative of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense Irina Friz, former press secretary of the then oligarch Petro Poroshenko, stated this on her page on the social network.

According to her, the experience of American exercises in the early 2000s should be taken as the basis for the development of the Ukrainian Navy. At that time, the United States was preparing for a possible conflict with Iran and modeling what the enemy might do.
“Without going into details, the result of the simulation was the destruction of an aircraft carrier and a dozen warships of the American fleet. US admirals responsible for simulating the actions of the Iranian fleet have relied on... high-speed mobile attack boats with cruise missiles. The tactics have been very effective,” says Freese.
According to her, Ukraine needs to adopt such tactics.
“Russia is deploying modern Bastion systems in Crimea, which significantly reduces the effectiveness of the use of large surface ships. Thus, in financial and economic conditions, the development strategy of the Ukrainian Navy must, first of all, meet the challenges and conditions of action in the Black Sea basin, and the results of the conflict simulation that were worked out by the Pentagon should form the basis for changes and adjustments to the development concept of the Ukrainian Navy. Relying on maneuverable, small, fast strike weapons can radically change the balance of power in the Black Sea, fully restore the potential of the Ukrainian Navy at the expense of small budgetary expenditures, and also reduce possible losses in the event of an armed conflict at sea,” Frieze assures.
Let us recall that Ukraine, back in the days of Viktor Yushchenko, announced the construction of a series of new corvettes, but due to lack of funds in the budget, none of these ships were ever completed.
Instead, in recent months, the Poroshenko-controlled Lenin Forge plant received an order and built two artillery boats, which were touted in pro-government media as evidence of the “rebirth of the Ukrainian Navy.”
True, as Odessa journalists found out, the boats have still not been put into service with the remnants of the Ukrainian fleet due to problems discovered after their official transfer to the military.
