Poroshenko ordered a ceasefire in Donbass
Kyiv, September 05 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – President Petro Poroshenko ordered the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cease fire in the ATO zone starting at 18:00 Friday.

“Based on the call of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the leaders of illegal armed groups in Donbass to stop fire, the signing of the protocol at the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on the implementation of the Peace Plan of the President of Ukraine, I give the order to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to cease fire starting from 18.00 on September 5,” - the press service of the head of state noted in a statement.
Poroshenko also instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, together with the OSCE, to ensure “effective international control over compliance with the ceasefire, which should be exclusively bilateral in nature.”
“I hope that these agreements, including the ceasefire and the release of hostages, will be strictly adhered to,” Poroshenko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, unofficial information previously appeared that at a meeting of the trilateral contact group in Minsk, representatives of Kyiv and representatives of the LPR and DPR signed a ceasefire protocol. However, negotiations are still ongoing.
