Poroshenko admitted that without Russia Ukraine plunged into crisis
As a result of the war in Donbass, Ukraine has been greatly weakened, and improvements in the economy have not yet been felt by the population.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated this during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“With all the current challenges and threats, our general dynamics are obvious: the situation inside and around us is not as dramatic as in 2014-2015. We have become more resilient and strong. However, I will emphasize what the majority are dissatisfied with: it was not possible to end the war and restore the territorial integrity of the country. As a result of the aggression, 20 percent of Ukraine's industrial potential was lost, which triggered a domino effect for the entire Ukrainian economy. Russia’s closure of the market led to a deep social crisis,” the president admitted.
But, he said, Ukraine survived and resumed growth.
“But most Ukrainians have not yet felt an increase in prosperity, and the standard of living is returning slowly and unevenly. We saved the country! “The Kremlin Barbarossa”, Putin’s blitzkrieg, the “Russian Spring” plan - all this fizzled out in a matter of months. We created an army that liberated two-thirds of the Donbass territory occupied in the spring of 2014. An army that localized the conflict and is firmly holding the defense,” Poroshenko asserts.
