Poroshenko admitted that he dreams of NATO and the Customs Union
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko admitted to students of the Leadership Academy that he dreams of Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO.
“The key thing that I dream about is that I really want Ukraine to be a member of the European Union by 2030... And I really want Ukraine to be a member of the North Atlantic Alliance by 2030. After Russia illegally annexed Crimea, violating the Budapest Memorandum, the Great Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, international law, and destroyed the entire global security system, NATO remains the only effective mechanism,” Poroshenko said.
In his opinion, Ukraine should also become a member of the Schengen, Customs and Energy Unions of the EU.
“Then the EU will buy gas on the Russian border,” Poroshenko said.
