Poroshenko admitted to PACE that he speaks Russian “comfortably”
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko believes that the scandalous Ukrainian law on education is being unnecessarily politicized in Europe. He stated this today, speaking at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I ordered the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to send the law to the Venice Commission. I hope that her decision will be able to remove all counter-interpretations of this law, which aims to ensure a worthy place for all national minorities in a single Ukrainian society. We will fully take into account the conclusions of the Venice Commission,” Poroshenko assured.
However, after Poroshenko’s speech ended, PACE deputies continued to ask him questions regarding the law.
“We have not written a single word against the study of languages of national minorities. No, we create the conditions for this. The only thing we ask is: please study Ukrainian,” Poroshenko justified himself.
In conclusion, he boasted of his knowledge of Bulgarian, Romanian and Polish.
“I speak Russian calmly and comfortably,” Poroshenko added, already in Russian.
