Poroshenko continues to feed Mejlis members “breakfast” – virtual autonomy has not yet been agreed upon
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will support the creation of Crimean Tatar national autonomy in Crimea. He stated this today at a press conference in Kyiv.

“As soon as the final version of national or national-cultural autonomy is found, amendments to the Constitution will be initiated by me before the Verkhovna Rada. I really hope that the Verkhovna Rada will support these proposals,” Poroshenko said.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, the Mejlis, banned in Russia, is insisting on creating a fake autonomy in Crimea, requiring a corresponding vote already at the current session of the Verkhovna Rada. The head of the Majlis, Refat Chubarov, claims that this will help return Crimea to Ukraine.
Ukrainian nationalists, on the contrary, oppose the creation of even virtual autonomy, insisting on a unitary structure of the country. This position, in particular, was voiced by representatives of Oleg Lyashko’s Radical Party, as well as Dmitry Korchinsky’s group.
