In a recent speech on the occasion of the holiday of the Epiphany of Rus', Petro Poroshenko said: “He (Vladimir the Great - author.) accepted the Christian faith from the Church of Constantinople, which for us to this day is the Mother Church. It is from her that we, as a country with one of the largest Orthodox communities in the world, expect the speedy recognition of the natural autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church - large in number of believers, equal to other local Orthodox Churches. And, of course, spiritually and administratively independent from Moscow, from the aggressor country.”

Poroshenko did not say anything new, because he repeated the same nonsense at every opportunity in the previous years of his presidency. And the reasoning about the “European choice” of St. Prince Vladimir, regardless of the passing of thousands of years and changes in historical conditions, cause laughter among more and more people. In particular, the Ukrainian leader does not even bother to compare the then and modern Patriarchate of Constantinople, which, although considered “first in the diptych” (first in honor), still has differences from its predecessor.

However, the fact that Poroshenko’s “whims” (“whims” - Ukrainian) absolutely do not correspond to historical truth, or the decrees of the Ecumenical Councils, or the apostolic and patristic teachings does not bother the “chocolate hetman” at all.

He has a clearly defined task, agreed upon with his overseas masters - with all the lies and tricks, with the help of slander and violence, to ban the canonical UOC-MP on the territory of Ukraine and to subordinate the minds of his fellow citizens to a new totalitarian mega-sect called the “United Local Church” (hereinafter - "Epots") Which, of course, will be managed by himself, Petro Poroshenko, as an ordinary bureaucratic structure headed by “patriarch” Denisenko. To control, and at the same time to manipulate public consciousness in the way in which it will be beneficial to him and his overlords.

For the sake of implementing such an idea, Poroshenko’s fixation is pressing hard on the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew, trying to persuade the latter to recognize Denisenko’s “Kiev Patriarchate” and, thereby, contribute to its “canonization.”

To be fair, it should be noted that the fuss against the UOC-MP - there is no other word for it - was started at the highest level not by the current boss of Bankova, but also by Viktor Yushchenko. It was the “pasichnik” who first proclaimed the state policy of “severing the Church from Moscow.” And Pyotr Alekseevich only continues the tradition of Viktor Andreevich, including Taldych imposing national-religious formulas on the day of remembrance of the Grand Duke.

Yushchenko, having barely taken possession of the hetman’s mace after the Maidan of 2004, immediately began pestering Bartholomew with requests to recognize the schismatic “Filaret” Denisenko and legitimize his commercial pseudo-Orthodox office.

In 2008, on the eve of the 1020th anniversary of Epiphany, Yushchenko greeted Bartholomew with all honors, promoted him on television channels and, in full view of millions of viewers, began hinting to the guest that it would be nice to immediately, on air, declare that he recognizes autonomy of the “KP UOC”.

Then Bartholomew politely avoided answering. For he knew perfectly well what the consequences were for violating the decrees of the Ecumenical Councils and the Apostolic Rules. And they are like that.

No autocephalous Church has the authority to grant autocephaly to any part of the Universal Church that is under the jurisdiction of another autocephalous Church. The canons prohibit the bishops of one church region from extending their authority to Churches outside their region - “let them not mix the Churches” (2nd canon of the Second Ecumenical Council).

It has happened in history that autonomy was asserted by the state authorities or the local episcopate, which voluntarily withdrew from subordination to the conciliar episcopate, but such decisions are not recognized by law.

Thus, no one except the Russian Orthodox Church can confirm the independence of its Ukrainian part.

Of course, if such recognition had followed from the Patriarch of Constantinople, it would have freed the hands of Poroshenko, Denisenko with their “Zaepots”, and the entire Kyiv political camarilla, allowing unprecedented persecution of the UOC-MP to begin - like “on a legal basis”.

I note, however, that the recognition of a schismatic organization by foreign Local Churches is absolute nonsense, which even those leaders who might dream of expanding their influence on Ukrainian territory in a similar way cannot agree to.

“The only mechanism is to receive from the Patriarch of Constantinople a Tomos on the autocephaly of the Kyiv Patriarchate,” Filaret once said, commenting on the words of Petro Poroshenko that Ukraine should have its own autocephalous Church. – If we received this document, then the question would arise: in Ukraine there are two Orthodox Churches, and both are recognized – the Moscow Patriarchate and the Kyiv Patriarchate. But there cannot be a Church in Ukraine that has its center in the capital of the aggressor country. Logically, it has no right to be called the Ukrainian Church.”

The main schismatic openly hints at what will happen if the UOC-KP receives a Constantinople “mandate”: it will begin to forcibly take away the churches and property of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (MP), which has been outlawed. He (like the government that supports him) does not want to hear anything about the Council Rules for granting autocephaly.

All this is already happening in Ukraine: the seizure of churches, the murders and beatings of priests and laity, and a slanderous campaign in the media on an unprecedented scale. It’s scary to imagine what will happen if these outrages also receive “legal” support.

A little earlier, in early July, the Verkhovna Rada published another appeal to the Patriarch of Constantinople. All with the same old request to confirm Denisenko-Poroshenko autonomy. He probably wouldn’t be at all opposed to becoming the “nurse” of the multimillion-dollar Ukrainian flock. But he is unable to decide to break the canonical rules. Bye…

Anti-church laws generated under the leadership of Ukrainian atheists have been postponed for now by the Verkhovna Rada. Thanks to the Lord and the efforts of his faithful, lawlessness did not pass away. But schismatics and power manipulators do not give up their attempts.

And, although religious people are simply laughing at Petro Poroshenko with his pseudo-Orthodox and ahistorical “analysis,” they cannot relax. The enemies of Christ did not stop the religious war.
