Poroshenko produced another posthumous “hero of Ukraine”
Petro Porosheno awarded the honorary title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star to senior sergeant Andrey Konoplev posthumously, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reports the press service of the head of Ukraine.
“Senior Sergeant Konoplev was awarded “for exceptional personal courage and heroism shown in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath.” The head of state signed the corresponding Decree,” the message says.
As noted, “Senior Sergeant Konoplev took part in the anti-terrorist operation in the Donetsk region from November 10, 2014 to January 23, 2015 as part of the 15th separate mountain infantry battalion, which was part of the forces and assets of sector “C.” From November 23, 2014 to January 23, 2015, he carried out combat missions at a platoon strong point in the Nikishin area. During the entire period of participation in the ATO, he constantly performed combat missions on the front line. Repeatedly took part in escorting caravans to deliver ammunition, weapons, military-technical equipment and food to the platoon stronghold.
On January 23, 2015, illegal armed groups once again attacked the platoon stronghold, using small arms, tanks and artillery shelling. Senior Sergeant Konoplev was serving at a position assigned to him, and was the first to see enemy tanks firing at the position. I raised up the squad personnel and informed the commander of the platoon strong point.
In conditions associated with the risk of life, he did not hesitate to act confidently and selflessly: he fired several well-aimed shots from the RPG-7V and destroyed one of the enemy’s tanks, then managed to knock out a second tank of illegal armed groups. But this tank fired, and as a result of a direct hit from a tank shell, Andrei died,” Poroshenko’s press service describes the exploits of another hero.
“Thanks to the actions of Andrei Konoplev, who sacrificed his own to save the lives of his fellow soldiers, the enemy’s offensive was repulsed, positions were held, and significant losses were inflicted on the enemy, including in manpower,” Poroshenko’s press service noted.
