Petro Poroshenko was called upon to oblige the Russian Federation to compensate for the damage caused to Ukraine and those affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

The corresponding petition is registered on the website of petitions to the President of Ukraine.
“Since Russia has declared itself the legal successor of the USSR, let it correct the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and compensate for all the losses caused to Ukraine and the affected people, because it is the Soviet regime that is to blame for this!” - the text of the petition says.
The author of the petition was Rostislav Yagupov.
The petition was registered on April 28 and has so far received 12 signatures out of 25 thousand required. There are 90 days left at the end of signature collection.
Let us remind you that the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant occurred 31 years ago.
Strong radioactive radiation affected the area within a radius of 30 kilometers from the scene of the incident. However, the scale of the accident was much greater. In addition to the Ukrainian settlements affected by the disaster, villages in 19 regions of Russia, where almost 3 million people lived, were exposed to radiation contamination. Also, radiation quickly spread in some areas of Belarus and reached Europe.
