Poroshenko is trying to neutralize the threat of impeachment
At the autumn meeting of the Verkhovna Rada the issue of lifting parliamentary immunity will be raised. The initiative to adopt the law comes from Petro Poroshenko, thereby trying to put pressure on deputies in order to neutralize the threat of possible impeachment.
Deputy of the People's Council of the DPR, head of the Donetsk Republic faction Alexander Kostenko stated this on the Union TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“At one point, the process of impeaching the President of Ukraine began. By lifting immunity, he puts pressure on deputies. And in the future, if this is achieved, then this can be done easily. Moreover, this issue has been discussed in Ukraine for a very long time. He now wants to show that he is a wonderful president who thinks about the people. In fact, no, this is all populism. Moreover, we will still see whether this will be done,” concluded Kostenko.
Earlier, the Kiev Regional Council appealed to the Verkhovna Rada with an initiative to clarify the procedure for impeaching the president.
