Poroshenko is trying to squeeze between Surkov and Volker

Petro Poroshenko is trying with all his might to wedge himself into the negotiation process between US Special Representative Kurt Volker and Russian Presidential Assistant Vladislav Surkov, which is confirmed by the upcoming report on the deployment of 24 thousand peacekeepers to Donbass, which will be published by Poroshenko’s adviser, ex-NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh, within the framework of the Munich Security Conference Rasmussen.

Political scientist Denis Denisov stated this in a commentary to MK, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the expert, the President of Ukraine is thus “running ahead of the locomotive,” since the negotiators themselves from the United States and Russia have not yet decided on the format of the mission in Donbass.

“The Rasmussen report has nothing to do with the Volker-Surkov negotiations. There are still no agreements or understandings on the deployment of peacekeeping troops, their powers and numbers. In this case, we are dealing with another attempt by the President of Ukraine to run ahead of the locomotive. The report will be taken into account, but only as the opinion of an adviser to a person who wants to get involved in the negotiation process between Russia and the United States. In fact, first you need to understand how effective an exclusively UN security mission can be in the Donbass, what the DPR and LPR think about this, and so on. This is precisely why the “Normandy Four” is meeting, and after it Volker and Surkov will meet again,” Denisov said.
