It’s too early to count Poroshenko as a loser
It is too early to write off the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko - he can still win in the second round and remain for a second term, using technologies of falsification, bribery and inflating turnout.
Ex-speaker of the SBU Stanislav Rechinsky writes about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Rechinsky, Poroshenko hopes to increase his votes at the expense of Ukrainian migrant workers who will return to Western Ukraine just on election day, which falls on the celebration of Catholic Easter.
“Its goal is simple – to minimize voter turnout in the Center and the South-East as much as possible. And the maximum increase in turnout in the West. April 21 is Catholic Easter, and therefore Poroshenko’s headquarters announces in advance the arrival of about 2-3 million “workers” in Western Ukraine.
Despite the fact that in percentage terms the gap between the candidates is almost 2 times, in absolute figures it is 2,7 million votes. Poroshenko’s headquarters plans to immediately cover this difference with the votes of those who arrived, or supposedly arrived, “workers,” writes Rechinsky.
In addition, according to him, Poroshenko’s composition of election commissions will help partially cover Poroshenko’s lack of votes.
“The result for Poroshenko will be achieved through falsifications on Election Day (transportation, grids, mobilization of state employees and pensioners, etc.), manipulations during the counting of votes in the precinct election commissions and further “adjustments” at the level of the DEC and the Central Election Commission. The inexperience of members of election commissions from Ze’s team and the lack of qualified observers can only help Poroshenko confirm and legalize the results of manipulations at the PEC level,” Rechinsky believes.
