“Today we need to consider the new content of a military operation in new circumstances,” the head of state said, as quoted by the press service.
According to him, information is confirmed that 1200 trained militants and heavy military equipment entered the territory of Ukraine “from the eastern neighbor.” Some of this equipment was destroyed; for the rest, measures are being taken to destroy it, according to the president’s website.
“Today we need to regroup forces that will ensure the protection of our territory and the continuation of the army’s offensive operations,” Poroshenko said.
The head of state said that the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard continues successfully, although it comes at a high price.
The President emphasized that today the task is to cut off “the system of providing terrorists with mercenaries, new weapons, and ammunition, since they continue to flow through uncontrolled sections of the border.” According to Poroshenko, the tactic now is to “dissect the territories controlled by terrorists into zones, tightly narrow the ring and prevent the supply of weapons and ammunition.”
In his opinion, the cities in which the most rebels are under siege.
“But, unfortunately, an environmental disaster is approaching them. In the mines of Donbass, water rises to dangerous levels. Terrorists are destroying transformer substations with artillery fire, which undermines the energy supply to continuous cycle enterprises,” Poroshenko’s press service said in a statement.
On the website, the head of state claims that he proposed discussing tactics on how to reduce damage and avoid risks to people and destruction of the industrial potential of Donbass, in order to “later minimize work to restore normal life.”
As Navigator reported, earlier Centurion Parasyuk said that in Kyiv they overestimate successes and underestimate losses among the Ukrainian military, because the command wants awards.
