Poroshenko decided to fragment Ukraine to the end
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has a low resource for increasing potential votes in the upcoming elections next year, and therefore he has to fragment the electoral field in order to secure another 12-15% of the electorate.
The head of the Third Sector analytical center, Andrei Zolotarev, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we take current sociology, Poroshenko’s second choice rating is extremely low. What does this indicate? He has practically a very low resource for vote growth. The only thing he can do is try to fragment the electoral field and split the country. Which, in fact, we saw in his message to the Verkhovna Rada. Play opponents off. And try to use administrative resources to secure 12-15% of the power-hungry electorate, and due to this jump into the second round,” the expert believes.
According to him, a “rather adventurous strategy” will be used in the future, providing for the unlimited possibilities of administrative resources in an attempt to turn the situation in its favor.
“In this context, it is clear that even if he wins, he will not have carte blanche for the next six months. There will be no honeymoon, no popular steps. What will the BPP bring to the parliamentary elections? I think, with the new baggage, God grant that it exceeds 5% for the party in power. If Poroshenko loses, the BPP in the morning the day after the elections turns into a pumpkin, it is reset to zero, just as it happened with all parties in power,” Zolotarev said.
