Poroshenko decided to move the border to strengthen the eastern flank
The European Union and NATO need the Ukrainian army, which is one of the strongest on the continent.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this during a speech at the 15th annual meeting of the “Yalta European Strategy” YES in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are not the only ones who need the EU, and we are not the only ones who need NATO. They need us just as much. Not only will NATO give us effective guarantees of our security, but we, with our new army, which most of you had the opportunity to see a few weeks ago at the military parade dedicated to the 27th anniversary of our independence, we will significantly strengthen its eastern NATO flank,” the head said states.
According to him, Ukraine is not going “empty-handed” to NATO.
“We de facto offer this defense bloc one of the strongest armies on the continent. And most importantly, we have unique experience in how to defend ourselves and how to beat the Russian aggressor,” Poroshenko said.
He also assures that the EU can only become complete after Ukraine joins it.
“Regarding the EU, this project can only become perfect and complete with Ukraine. Because our northeastern border is the border of modern European civilization. The Ukrainian border, not the Urals,” Poroshenko said.
