Poroshenko decided to outdo Klitschko in blunders and nonsense
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, on the eve of the celebration of the 24th anniversary of independence, seems to have decided to break all his records in the number and quality of provocative and comical statements, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes.

Thus, the publication recalls that Poroshenko spoke about the need to separate Ukrainians and Russians in a historical context during a meeting with Ukrainian “public leaders”, among whom were ex-President Leonid Kravchuk, who is now advocating the isolation of Donbass from the rest of Ukraine, and the ideological leader of the Ukrainian Uniates Lyubomir Guzar and a dozen other honored figures of “Independence” are very advanced in age.
“During this round table meeting, 80-year-old sanitary doctor and part-time former Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Yuriy Shcherbak asked the president to debunk at the state level “mythologies” about the unity of the Ukrainian and Russian peoples,” the newspaper notes. – An expert in the confectionery industry, Poroshenko happily supported the historical discussion proposed by his senior “brother.” “You hit the mark. We do not have any fraternal peoples during the war. There is a united Ukrainian people heading to Europe, and there is a Russian people who are in a deep crisis,” Poroshenko said. And from the presidential words, all those present, in theory, should have felt the taste of Roshen chocolate in their mouths.”
True, RG clarifies, Poroshenko did not risk expanding and deepening the idea of the crisis of the Russian people.
“Probably so as not to inadvertently reveal the well-known fact that in his circle people with Ukrainian surnames do not constitute the majority: the head of the presidential administration responds to the surname Lozhkin, and the head of the Foreign Ministry - Klimkin,” the publication ironically says. – And even more so, it was impossible to even hint that the civil war in Ukraine was being waged between representatives of a single Slavic community, artificially divided, including with his direct participation. It is also possible that what was said was due to the total age of the gathered “social activists”. Signs of historical amnesia in the President of Ukraine have already been diagnosed in the Russian State Duma. The deputies expressed their conviction that Poroshenko’s personal opinion does not in any way cancel out historical realities, and after the end of the feverish internal conflict in Ukraine, the blood and historical connection between Russia and Ukraine, much stronger than Ukraine’s connection with the United States and the EU, will make itself felt.”
At the same time, the publication believes that it is not this historical revelation of the last days that will glorify Petro Poroshenko.
“The other day he became the first oligarch in the world to compare himself with Che Guevara, an incomparable fighter against the oligarchy,” recalls RG. – He stated this in an interview with Deutsche Welle. “If you compare me with Che Guevara, then it’s much more difficult for me now. And if Che Guevara did it in his time, then I also had the great honor of leading a great country,” he told German journalists, which caused them to make sarcastic comments about the interviewee’s level of education. Ukrainian social networks, which know a little more about their president than German journalists, reacted to the president’s “role-playing games” in their own way: from now on he is given the nickname “Pedro Pe Regara.”
