Poroshenko decided to appease the heroes of Ukraine with a one-time cash handout
Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on a one-time monetary reward for persons who were awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for performing an outstanding heroic deed, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is reported by the President’s website, which publishes Decree No. 92/2019.
“Introduce into the Charter the title of Hero of Ukraine, approved by Decree of the President of Ukraine of December 2, 2002 No. 1114 “On the title of Hero of Ukraine,” an amendment, supplementing it with Section V of the following content:
“V. A one-time monetary reward to individuals who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for performing an outstanding heroic deed,” the message says.
In addition, the decree provides for the payment of a one-time monetary reward to persons who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Golden Star.
In case of conferring the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the “Gold Star” posthumously or in the event of the death of a person who was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the “Gold Star”, a one-time remuneration is paid to the family members of such persons.
The document also provides for the payment of a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 50 times the subsistence minimum established for able-bodied persons on January 1 of the calendar year in which the title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded.
Also, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was instructed to develop and approve a procedure for paying one-time monetary rewards to persons who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for performing an outstanding heroic deed.
Also ensure payment to persons to whom the title of Hero of Ukraine for committing an outstanding heroic deed was awarded before January 1, 2020, or to family members of such persons in the event of their death or posthumous award of a one-time monetary reward provided for in Section V of the Charter of the title of Hero of Ukraine, approved by the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated December 2, 2002 No. 1114, based on the cost of living for able-bodied persons established as of January 1, 2020.
It was instructed to provide, when developing draft laws on the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020 and subsequent years, funds for the payment of a one-time monetary reward to persons who have been awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine for performing an outstanding heroic deed.
The Decree comes into force on the date of its publication, except for Article 1 regarding the payment of a one-time monetary reward, which comes into force on January 1, 2020 and applies regardless of the time the title of Hero of Ukraine was awarded for performing an outstanding heroic deed.
