Presidential press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko wrote about this on Twitter.

The website of the head of state clarifies that we are talking about changes to criminal legislation “on the inevitability of punishment for certain crimes against the foundations of national security, public safety and corruption crimes.”

This document allows for trials in absentia against suspects, as well as confiscation of their property.

“Starting tomorrow, our prosecutor’s office, investigative bodies, and courts will finally have the opportunity, in an open meeting, to put in the dock and bring to justice those who robbed our people, to take appropriate steps in relation to their property, if it was acquired dishonestly, according to arrest of their accounts,” Poroshenko said in Dnepropetrovsk.

As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada decided on the possibility of trials in absentia on October 7.
