Poroshenko: The Russian Empire has suffered a heavy blow
Petro Poroshenko claims that the 2014 coup in Kyiv dealt a blow not to Ukraine, but to Russia.
He said this in an interview with loyal TV channels serving the regime, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Poroshenko made it clear that he deliberately went for confrontation by giving the order to transfer boats to the Sea of Azov.
“Of course, everything could have been avoided. Give up Ukrainian land one region at a time, and they will all be happy. Because Azov, the Kerch Strait or Crimea, Donetsk or Lugansk are not needed. The Russian Empire was dealt a heavy blow by the fact that Ukraine, 4,5 years ago after the “Gidnost Revolution”, after I signed the Association Agreement, set a goal for itself – NATO and the EU. Every day we take the necessary steps for progress,” Poroshenko said.
“Today it’s simply crazy what Russia is doing in relation to Ukraine. She paid for this with zero economic growth, a decline in living standards, devaluation of the national currency, and a waste of funds to maintain military units in the Donetsk, Lugansk regions and Crimea.
During this time, Ukraine has done everything possible, even in war conditions, even paying a high price, to defend its sovereignty, to prevent anyone from taking us over, to maintain unity and carry out reforms,” the oligarch president assures.
