Poroshenko: Rising prices are good, but Tymoshenko is at the same time as Chavez and Maduro
Petro Poroshenko today voiced reproaches against his rival Yulia Tymoshenko, without mentioning her name, but mentioning her promises to reduce gas prices.
The Ukrainian president said this at an economic conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first challenge is revanchism. Russian interference in elections. I will try to publish information about the intervention during the Munich Security Forum. Unfortunately, this process continues. Russia is very active. The question now is not about Putin’s personal sympathies or antipathies towards the current Ukrainian president. The goal is to stop our path to the West and return Ukraine to the Russian sphere of influence.
The second challenge is populism. We are not unique, this has now covered the whole world. Like-minded people of Chavez and Maduro are vying with each other to offer Ukrainians a wide range of Venezuelan dishes.
Ukrainian populists and politicians have forgotten how 13 years ago their promises to lower sugar prices immediately ended in a sugar shortage. After the intention to reduce the cost of meat, meat disappeared from store shelves. When they began to regulate gasoline prices, it “evaporated” from gas stations.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Those legislators are again trying to get into power under populist slogans,” Poroshenko said.
He also emphasized that he sees his mission not only in the unchanged Euro-Atlantic course, but also in the continuation of the corresponding economic policy.
