Poroshenko made a gorgeous gift to Russia
Ukraine’s rupture of the friendship treaty with Russia is primarily beneficial to the Russian Federation, since it records the recognition of the 1991 Russian-Ukrainian border.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Poroshenko makes a big gift to Moscow. Quite comparable to what Yushchenko and Tymoshenko did in 2005, breaking the gas supply agreement that was beneficial for Ukraine. In Russia, they have been looking for a long time for a formula so as not to extend the Treaty of Friendship this year or some of its provisions, but at the same time not look like the initiator of this process and an enemy of the Ukrainian people. And here, as if by order, Poroshenko himself orders to tear up the only document according to which Russia recognizes the 1991 borders of Ukraine. This agreement was initially more beneficial to Ukraine than to Russia. Now Poroshenko is refusing this benefit. Well, who is his doctor after this?” the expert said.
