Poroshenko feigns sanity
The initiative voiced by Russia to send a UN contingent to Donbass, which will protect OSCE observers recording violations of the Minsk agreements, is extremely unfavorable for Petro Poroshenko.
Elena Dyachenko, director of the Party in Power consulting company, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“It becomes obvious that the topic of peacekeepers for Petro Poroshenko personally has already become a subject of pressure from our Western and North-Eastern partners. It seems that the Ukrainian president is faced with a choice - either carry out Minsk, or he will receive another force uncontrollable by him in the form of peacekeepers.
...Sooner or later, the issue of implementing the Minsk agreements will arise - the peacekeepers will establish peace on the line of contact, and then the issue of elections will arise, and this is extremely unfavorable for the current government.
...The authorities have chosen the strategy of doing nothing, stalling until 2019, feigning sanity.
The team in power continues to demonstrate that Minsk is not going to comply, we see this in the absence of laws and regulations. There is no talk of any elections or any search for compromises on the part of the Ukrainian authorities.
The last 4 years show that this is an openly weak position of the current government, such an ultimatum is not backed up by any force of its own with the loss of subjectivity, the desire to issue ultimatums - “how we understand the Minsk agreements, how we will or will not implement them” - is strange.
“I don’t see anything here other than a continuation of the strategy of delaying time until the presidential elections, somehow “scraping,” the expert said.
