“According to my information, an increased concentration of assets has begun in the media market on the eve of local elections. “I’ll tell you a secret: at the moment, the oligarch Poroshenko is completing negotiations on the acquisition of the News One TV channel from representatives of Mykola Azarov, as well as the 112 TV channel from Zakharchenko’s representatives,” Korban wrote on his page on the social network.
He suggests that the purchase of media assets is connected with rumors about early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, which could take place in the spring of 2016.
Poroshenko already owns Channel 5, which he called his brainchild and refused to sell after being elected president.
Earlier it became known that Poroshenko had established control over the last major media outlets that allowed criticism of the government - the Vesti newspaper and the Reporter magazine. The owner of the publications, Alexander Klimenko, the Minister of Revenue during the time of Viktor Yanukovych, allegedly came to an agreement with the president.
