The fact that the new authorities decided to celebrate this day at the state level suggests that they live in virtual space and absolutely do not understand the Ukraine that they got into leadership. “The celebration of the 150th anniversary of Andrei Sheptytsky does not unite the country. It unites those people in parliament who will initially pursue an anti-Russian and anti-Orthodox course. This is absolutely obvious and the vote was significant. As for Metropolitan Sheptytsky, his position in relation to the SS “Galicia”, and in relation to Hitler, and the seizure of our territory is completely known, as well as the crazy war against Orthodoxy, the destruction of Orthodoxy in Ukraine. Therefore, this vote was a test for a number of factions and people’s deputies. The Poroshenko-UDAR faction passed this test. They will continue to pursue this policy in the future. “Both Poroshenko and UDAR are factions that do not have their own root ideology, but simply accept the one that is most politically advantageous today. And today the most politically advantageous is the pro-fascist ideology, within the framework of which various decisions are made in Ukraine. Including the decision to celebrate the anniversary of Andrei Sheptytsky lies in this plane, once again emphasizing the short-sightedness of the deputies, who in other circumstances could have voted differently. And now they are just sliding down this slope. It is also important that, not being the indigenous bearers of this ideology, they are digging a grave for themselves,” notes Crimean political scientist Andrey Nikiforov.
