Poroshenko demands to move troops to the demarcation line
The command issues fines to Ukrainian military personnel for violating the truce.
The leader of European Solidarity, ex-President Petro Poroshenko, stated this during the conciliation council of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The President informed the public about 200 days of silence, creating a mirage of near peace. Now the authorities have admitted that the truce is a fiction. In reality, the war continues, our soldiers are dying, 13 soldiers have died since the beginning of the year alone. Our deputies returned yesterday from the contact line. They are shocked that our soldiers’ hands are tied with fines for fire in response to Russian provocations,” Poroshenko said.
He appealed to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmitry Razumkov, with a request to invite the Minister of Defense to parliament on the day of government questions.
“For him to report how much and how much our soldiers were fined for defending our land,” the ex-president demanded.
“We demand that the units be returned to the positions from which they were withdrawn throughout the year. Also return to the contact line the counter-sniper units that were criminally withdrawn, and today our soldiers are dying from sniper fire. And providing them, as it was two years ago, with the necessary weapons and ammunition,” Poroshenko added.
He called on his colleagues in the Rada to unite and adopt amendments to the budget providing for an increase in the monetary support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was last increased two years ago.
