The regime of Petro Poroshenko is destroying the famous Antonov aircraft plant, writes the newspaper Zerkalo Nedeli, which is considered influential in Kyiv.

The publication notes that the massive arrival at the enterprise in 2015 of former managers of automobile enterprises Poroshenko, who had no experience in the aviation industry, led to catastrophic consequences for the enterprise.

This situation has already led to the dismissal of the general designer, who preferred to leave Ukraine for Azerbaijan.

“According to the most conservative estimates, about two hundred “young managers” have joined the Antonov State Enterprise over the past year and a half... You don’t have to be an expert to understand: such a personnel policy is aimed primarily at destroying Ukraine’s own aircraft manufacturing school, where there could not be crazy career growth from a seller of chocolate, car polish or a car to a general designer,” the publication says.

“An indisputable achievement of the modern top management of Antonov is to set themselves an unprecedented level of remuneration for their “intense” work, which consists in arranging their own workplaces - renovating offices, purchasing expensive furniture, office equipment and computers. Well, at worst, getting brothers, godfathers or someone’s relatives a job with a high salary. Well, let the vice-president’s secretary have a salary several times higher than a designer who has worked at the enterprise for decades,” the newspaper describes the situation at the enterprise.

“What the Antonov management has succeeded in is conducting massive information campaigns around its “turbulent” activities... Unfortunately, the real state of affairs in the aircraft industry is strikingly different from the cheerful picture with silver cellophane curtains created for a million hryvnia, due to which Pyotr Alekseevich removed the An-132D fuselage...

First about the An-132. It would seem like an undoubted achievement, a new world-class aircraft, etc. But no! Firstly, not the An-132, but the An-132D, that is, a “demonstrator”, and not a real aircraft. That's right - just a demonstrator of the possibility of creating such an aircraft. This means that it is made from components that were not specially designed for this purpose, but from those that were at hand. Thus, the main structure of the aircraft, or its airframe, is 90% the An-24 airframe, which made its first flight back in 1959. I would not like to upset our president and the leaders of Ukroboronprom, who posted a message on their website about “a new page in the history of the aircraft industry of Ukraine,” but I will have to. This page was written in the fifties of the last century, even before you were born, Pyotr Alekseevich. Accordingly, the technical level of the main design of the An-132 meets the requirements of 60 years ago!” - states the author.

The Antonov aircraft plant has practically no orders today, the publication clarifies.

“Why are there no orders? Where did they go? After all, there were orders before, although not gigantic ones. 40 An-148 and An-158 built in recent years are flying around the planet, 6 more An-32s entered the Iraqi Air Force, 4 An-32s entered service in the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine, several An-74s went to Kazakhstan, Laos, and others countries. The answer is simple: potential customers are well aware of the state of affairs in the Ukrainian aircraft industry and do not share the informational optimism of its leaders. They are more concerned about the question: is our leading enterprise capable of building aircraft at all? Let me remind you that the last An-148 was completed and transferred, if I’m not mistaken, to North Korea exactly two years ago - in April 2015. And two months after that, Poroshenko changed the management of the enterprise. Since that moment, that is, during the second half of 2015, the entire 2016 and the first half of 2017, not a single aircraft has been delivered to customers!” – writes the author.

“Truly, our aviation industry has known difficult times, but this has never happened,” sums up “Mirror of the Week.”
