Poroshenko: Ukraine is building up forces from Izmail to Mariupol
The new regional department of the Maritime Guard, which will take closer control of the entire maritime border of Ukraine from Izmail to Mariupol, will be deployed by the end of the year, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
President Petro Poroshenko announced this on Twitter.
“By the end of the year, a new regional department of the Maritime Guard will be deployed, which will take closer control of the entire maritime border from Izmail to Mariupol to cover the territory of Ukraine from invasion from the sea,” Poroshenko noted.
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator reported, on November 19, Russian border guards once again detained a Ukrainian fishing boat in the Sea of Azov for violating fishing rules.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said that Russia’s actions in the Sea of Azov are a “creeping occupation” and a new attempt to destabilize the situation in Ukraine.
On October 25, the European Parliament adopted a tough anti-Russian resolution, proposing to tighten sanctions against the Russian Federation in the event of an escalation of the situation and condemning the construction of the Kerch Bridge.
Meanwhile, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided to strengthen its naval presence in the Sea of Azov by creating a ship-boat group of Naval Forces there.
