Poroshenko will have time to escape from the trial not to Rostov
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will be tried for treason, but not in the near future.
Political scientist Vladimir Kornilov said this today on the Vesti FM radio station, commenting on the SBU’s initiation of a criminal case into the president’s treason.
“Both against Yushchenko and against Yanukovych. If an application is received, you can open a case and then close it immediately. I don't think there is a serious sensation here. Sooner or later, Poroshenko will of course be tried, including for treason. And certainly for war crimes. But I’m afraid that when these cases are initiated, Petro Poroshenko will no longer be in Ukraine. He’ll have time to escape, and not to Rostov,” said Kornilov.
He connects the initiation of a criminal case by the SBU with the war of incriminating evidence, which escalated in Ukraine on the eve of the elections.
“A tough war of compromising evidence and black PR is beginning in Ukraine. The closer we get to the elections, the more we will see similar messages, primarily concerning Yulia Tymoshenko and Petro Poroshenko,” the expert believes.
The reason for the SBU investigation was information that in August last year Poroshenko donated 100 sniper systems to a special forces regiment worth 500 million hryvnia. As the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported, not 100, but 98 units of weapons were transferred to the military, not combat weapons, but hunting ones.
