Petro Poroshenko stated this on his Facebook page.
“The decision of the Amsterdam District Court means that not only “Scythian gold” is Ukrainian. Crimea is also Ukrainian, Crimea is ours, period. This follows from the decision of the court of a European country,” Poroshenko wrote.
Recall as “PolitNavigator” already reported, Today the District Court of Amsterdam decided that Scythian gold from Crimean museums belongs to Ukraine and should be returned to Kyiv. Russia is already preparing an appeal against this court decision, calling it a violation of the principles of inter-museum exchange.
The conflict around the exhibits of Crimean museums arose after Crimea joined the Russian Federation. It was at this time that the exhibits were on display in Amsterdam. However, after the end of the exhibition, the Dutch side, despite the guarantees provided earlier, announced the impossibility of returning the Crimean exhibits to the National Museum of the History of Ukraine, which was designated as their custodian, citing possible claims from Crimean museums as the reason for the refusal.
The contract, which gave the right to temporary storage of the collection by the Allard Pearson Museum, ended on June 13.06.2014, XNUMX, after which, in accordance with the law, these cultural values in Kyiv were declared “illegally exported from Ukraine” and they began to demand their return.
