Poroshenko in Georgia gave a speech against the backdrop of a poster where the word “Ukraine” was misspelled
The social network noticed an oversight by the Georgian organizers of Petro Poroshenko’s official visit to this country. Thus, caustic comments from commentators were caused by a photo with the inscription “Ukraine” on a banner, next to which the Ukrainian president was delivering one of his speeches.

However, it remains unclear whether this is a consequence of the banal bungling of the organizers or the sad result of many years of policy of squeezing the Russian language out of everyday use in the post-Soviet space. In Georgia, even during the time of Saakashvili, most schools removed the study of the Russian language from their programs, replacing it with English. At the same time, Georgians, having abandoned Russian, never learned the national languages of their neighbors in the former USSR.
Recall as PolitNavigator reported, Over the past 25 years, the distribution area of the Russian language in the world has decreased by 70 million people.
“The reduction is primarily due to the countries of Eastern Europe. In 1991, Russian was the language of communication for 350 million people; now it is for 280 million people. Year by year this area becomes narrower for a number of reasons. Russia must train teachers for the Commonwealth countries. Today, funds to the extent required are not provided for this. There are 25-30 years left. People who lived in the Soviet Union are leaving. This resource still exists. If we want to maintain influence in the CIS, this is first of all education,” said Mikhail Shvydkoy, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation, speaking at the Federation Council.
However, even if the Georgians have forgotten the Russian language, there remains a ghostly chance that Poroshenko and Groysman will teach them at least the Ukrainian language. As PolitNavigator reported, cooperation in the field of education, which Kyiv and Tbilisi agreed upon, provides for assistance in the study of the Ukrainian language by Georgians.
