Poroshenko screamed in panic that there were “tentacles of Moscow” all around
Moscow can continue to influence Ukraine through the media space, waging an information war with Kiev.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stated this during the 13th meeting of the heads of foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The election campaign is approaching in Ukraine. Already, leading IT companies are recording the creation of thousands, tens of thousands of fake accounts with Russian roots. Russia is preparing for a new powerful manipulative campaign – fake news, undermining stability. I have no doubt that Moscow will not lose a single opportunity to discredit our achievements, to sow despondency among citizens about the future and fatigue from the European choice,” Poroshenko is sure.
He also called on Ukrainians to prepare for an information war.
“Although this task is not easy. We must study the experience in each host country - legislative experience, executive experience, efficiency steps. Why is this so important? Because Russia has already become well-versed in other countries. Remember the Dutch referendum on ratification of the association agreement. Remember Brexit and Russia’s participation,” the president said.
“Moscow’s tentacles have penetrated very firmly into social networks and control separate media and cyberspace. At the same time, the Kremlin skillfully covers up its subversive activities with democratic values and principles,” Poroshenko said.
