Kyiv, November 27 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in an address to the new Verkhovna Rada, cited the work of Dmitry Dontsov, the author of the idea of Ukrainian integral nationalism, adopted by the OUN of Stepan Bandera.

Poroshenko mentioned Dontsov’s quote when talking about the assistance provided by Western countries to Ukraine during the current conflict between Kyiv and Moscow.

“It is a historical fact,” wrote Dmitry Dontsov in “Fundamentals of Our Policy,” “that not a single nation has liberated itself solely on its own. They succeeded in realizing their political goals only when they considered this matter within the circle of ideas of a general nature and connected it with the interests of other states.” And this is exactly what we will do now,” Poroshenko said.

“The precarious ideological balance in which Ukraine was for 23 years, when Ukraine was balancing between East and West, has finally changed with complete clarity. 100% of Ukrainians now are for a single state, for a single country! The constitutional majority of Ukrainians sees it as a unitary country, no federation! And this, by the way, is a warm greeting to those who from the East or West advise us to “federalize.” Dear, you can give advice, but Ukrainians are against it! And we, finally, are the government that knows how to hear and fulfill the dreams of Ukrainians,” added the head of state.

Canadian researcher of Ukrainian nationalism Viktor Polishchuk noted: the ideology developed by Dmitry Dontsov implied that “the ruling elite should be an “initiative minority” that carries out “creative violence” against the rest of the people.”

Dontsov’s totalitarian nationalism implies the absence not only of organized opposition, but even of any opponents of this political movement.
