“Today we can say that the Minsk agreements regarding the mutual ceasefire are 90% fulfilled. Our government has done everything for this. We, the volunteers and the conscious part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, failed to prevent this, because we did not and could not go to an armed uprising against the authorities, and all other methods failed. The current situation is a disaster for Ukraine,” Belozerskaya said.
She also admitted that previously Ukrainian troops could be the first to violate the truce, blaming the militias for provocations. Now, when disciplined Armed Forces of Ukraine are at the forefront, this is impossible to do: “It was easier before. The separatists violate the truce and shoot at us, so we are forced to shoot back. In fact, of course, both sides violated - in equal proportions. Now both of them hardly violate, it is impossible to explain the need to fight with the excuse “they fired at us first,” and we have to say simply and honestly: this war must continue. And end in victory, not reconciliation.”
