Poroshenko again did not dare to declare war on Russia – all that is needed is the cancellation of elections
The Verkhovna Rada will be asked to introduce martial law for 60 days, Security Council Secretary Alexander Turchynov said, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Martial law does not mean a declaration of war. Ukraine does not plan to fight with anyone. It is being introduced exclusively for defense, to protect Ukrainian land,” Petro Poroshenko clarified.
“And after Debaltsevo and Ilovaisk, why didn’t you introduce martial law? Few people died or was the next election far away?” – ex-deputy head of the presidential administration Andrei Portnov sarcastically comments on his blog.
“Every Ukrainian officer must realize that if martial law is introduced (and indeed without it), the Supreme Commander-in-Chief does not give a damn about him and his subordinates.
And for the sake of momentary political gain, he will throw them into a cauldron, surrounded, into the sea... There will be no help, there will be no help, there will be no support. Just ask the 23 sailors detained in Russia. Where were your aviation, MTR and other mythical paraphernalia? There were none. And it won’t,” Russian military correspondent Alexander Kots warns “Ukrainian patriots.”
Speaker Andriy Parubiy is expected to convene an emergency meeting of the Verkhovna Rada on martial law tomorrow at 16:00. Parliamentary meetings will be held closed to the press.
