Poroshenko: All NATO is with us, let the “fifth column” not even think of raising its head
Ukraine, unlike the beginning of the XNUMXth century, has strong support from the West in its confrontation with Moscow. The country's President Petro Poroshenko stated this while speaking at the parade in honor of Independence Day, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We must seek and hold on to allies. A hundred years ago, we were left alone with Russia, and only those new states that had proper external support survived. Now everything is different.
And I am confident in our army. It is in better shape than ever – and this, by the way, is the assessment of European think tanks. But there is still a lot of work ahead to strengthen and modernize it, making it fully compatible with NATO standards.
We are looking for and finding asymmetrical and effective solutions in order to contain the army, the largest in Europe and the third largest in the world, in a long historical perspective...
I have confidence in our allies. And for us, now, in this parade, the participation of the heads of defense departments and military personnel of the Armed Forces of Great Britain, Georgia, Estonia, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania and the United States of America is extremely symbolic,” Poroshenko said.
Also, the “guarantor of the Ukrainian Constitution” warned his opponents within the country.
“We have enough intelligence and strength to keep the political struggle within the country within the framework of European standards of civilized relations between government and opposition. So that the enemy cannot undermine us from within. So that the “fifth column” does not even think of raising its head. So that atamanism does not destroy the foundations of statehood. In a word, so that in political confrontation we do not destroy ourselves,” Poroshenko said.
