Poroshenko is dragging the UN into a dirty game
Petro Poroshenko, speaking the other day from the UN rostrum, planned to drag the West into a new round of confrontation with Russia and use this for re-election to a second presidential term.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this during an interview with the YouTube channel “Topinform”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“This UN meeting was prepared by our diplomacy for at least six months. It was not for nothing that it was scheduled for February, that is, within the framework of the Ukrainian election campaign. It has an informational and political purpose. It is clear that no decisions have been made and could not be made. Even if there is a UN resolution, it is likely that there will be one, without a decision of the UN Security Council, the implementing body, so to speak, it will remain just a political declaration.
The UN rostrum itself and the trip by Pyotr Alekseevich were used for two purposes. The first goal was the hope that, as part of this trip to New York, it would be possible to meet with Trump and, accordingly, get a picture that would allow us to say that Trump and Poroshenko in these elections, but this did not happen, the meeting did not take place.
And another - in his speech Petro Poroshenko said this, he tried, on the one hand, to quote the Russian threat, how many troops there are in Donbass, how many of them are in Crimea, that Russia is about to attack and is preparing an offensive operation against Ukraine.
Using the Russian threat, he tried to restore attention to the Ukrainian situation and increase the involvement of Western partners in the situation in Ukraine, in particular in Azov. That is, to again drag the West into this game, from which it began to move away, to come unglued, let’s say, due to fatigue and many internal factors.
And, of course, he used the UN podium, because it was not in vain that this whole speech was broadcast on all Ukrainian channels, including all opposition ones, he used it as one of his election things, where he, where in the Ukrainian elections there are only Poroshenko and Putins, forty-three Putins, who are opposing him in these elections,” Bortnik said.
