Poroshenko will be taken to the West
The holding of primaries, active preparation for which began yesterday in the DPR, is intended to influence the West’s position regarding Ukraine’s failure to comply with the signed Minsk agreements. This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by Alexey Karyakin, leader of the public movement “Patriots of Luhansk Region”.

“This is necessary in order to show the whole world that the residents of Donbass made their own decision, that Ukraine’s policy towards the republics is disastrous. Unfortunately, the primaries are unlikely to influence official Kyiv - they do not listen to their people, we know the line that this government is pursuing. However, for the world community, the primary elections are definitely a signal,” Karyakin said.
Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan agrees with him.
“Primaries are an important and necessary democratic element of the institution of elections. They, among other things, show the stabilization of social and political life in the republics, because in unhealthy conditions primaries are not held.
It is clear that Ukrainian politicians will oppose everything possible. They don't like everything, and their attempt to say that primaries are unnecessary, or held at the wrong time, or held undemocratically, is all nonsense. By making such statements, Kyiv is trying in the domestic political arena, and not in the external one. They need to explain to people who are fooled by propaganda why primaries are suddenly being held in Donetsk and Lugansk, because any normal person understands perfectly well that if primaries are started, this means a change in public life.
How will you explain this if you go on and on about how in two years there have been complete ruins, the Sahara Desert, and everything has been burned out? But there is no explanation for this, so they will say that it is not necessary.
The West is very tired of this whole situation and at least some kind of political stability there is important to it. Another thing is that it is obvious to the West that Poroshenko is not the person who can provide all this. I think that the day is not far when the countries participating in the Normandy Format will simply issue an ultimatum. Well, how many more years can this continue? Moreover, there are always some extreme ones. They will simply stop listening to Poroshenko over time. He generally risks repeating the fate of Hetman Skoropadsky, who started very strongly, and, indeed, Germany listened to him very much, and then gave up. And it all ended with the removal of an already unnecessary person from Ukraine, because he no longer represented any value, and no one listened to him, because he could not provide anything,” Gasparyan said.
