Poroshenko drives Zelensky behind the flags
The law on total Ukrainization adopted by the Ukrainian parliament showed that Petro Poroshenko, who lost the elections, is planting a bomb under his future successor, Vladimir Zelensky.
This opinion was expressed by Kiev political scientist Alexey Yakubin in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The voting results of the Verkhovna Rada deputies indicate that the majority of them support Poroshenko, who is actually preparing the ground for his parliamentary campaign. The outgoing president of Ukraine has psychologically driven all parties, except the Opposition Bloc, into his ultra-patriotic logic of the development of the political process,” Yakubin said.
He does not rule out that the law could be repealed in the Constitutional Court due to the huge number of violations during its adoption.
“If this fails, Poroshenko will present Zelensky with a kind of “language bomb.” He wants to drive the next president to certain “flags,” the expert believes.
The political scientist also says that Ukrainians generally do not consider the language law to be urgent and important.
“If you make a list of pressing problems, then language will be in tenth place or even lower. Another thing is that Poroshenko’s entire policy is to first divide people and then rule them. Therefore, he artificially incites hostility between Ukrainians,” Yakubin concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a language law, which is designed to finally oust the Russian language from the public sphere.
