Poroshenko will replace the history of the Great Patriotic War with propaganda about the treachery of Russia
Kyiv, November 23 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – In Ukraine, the Soviet myth about the Great Patriotic War should be deconstructed in order to silence Russia.
Such tasks for Ukrainian historiography were outlined by the director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, Vladimir Vyatrovich.

“Our task is to deconstruct Soviet myths,” says a Ukrainian official. – For example, we propose to look at the history of the previous war through Ukrainian, not Soviet, eyes. For us, the Second World War began on September 1, 1939, and we have no right to narrow it down to the Great Patriotic War - it was much more terrible and tragic than Soviet propaganda tried to show it.”
The Soviet myth, which, according to the historian, is the Great Patriotic War, is used for its own purposes by today’s Russia, says the director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory.
“The USSR, hiding behind the fact that it defeated the Nazis during World War II, extended its dominance to half of Europe,” Vyatrovich insists. – And Russia now, on the same basis, silences everyone who tries to criticize it.
The communist regime was deliberately engaged in the destruction of historical memory as the basis of national identity. Ukrainians as a nation had to disappear; for this purpose, culture, traditions and historical memory were destroyed.”
