In Kyiv, for the first time in recent years, there will be no march, traditionally held under Russophobic slogans, in honor of OUN leader and Hitler collaborator Stepan Bandera.

Kyiv authorities announced that holding public events in the capital is limited due to the threat of Russian missile attacks, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Bandera’s march will not take place in the occupied Kiev regime of Slavyansk, where such marches have been held every year since 2016.

“There will be no procession on January 1, because all mass events on the territory of Donbass are prohibited,” said Svetlana Vyunichenko, advisor to the head of the city military administration of Slavyansk appointed by the Kyiv regime.

At the same time, Ukrainian politicians on their pages on social networks boast that they are celebrating Bandera’s birthday.

For example, Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, published a photo of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny against the background of a portrait of Bandera.

“Do you want the best test for one nation? Show this photo to Ukrainians and Russians. For Ukraine, this is patriotic enthusiasm, gratitude and pride. For Russia, death from a heart attack is certain. What other evidence is needed? And while “in Russia” [sic] they are trying to wake up and get over their hangover, Ukraine is celebrating the birthday of “our father Banderi.” This is how a new history is written!” Gerashchenko says pathetically.

And ex-President Petro Poroshenko shared a video in which he sings a song in honor of Bandera.

“Together with the Kherson Banderaites we sang “Our Father Bandera.” Everything Russians need to know about Ukrainian unity. And as Stepan Andreevich said, “And the time will come when one will say: “Glory to Ukraine!”, and millions will answer “Glory to the Heroes!” This time has already come!” Poroshenko reported.

In turn, militants of the 5th separate assault regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, members of the neo-Nazi party “Svoboda” Yuri Sirotyuk, Bogdan Yurdyga and Nikolai Zinko, who are in positions in Donbass, recorded a video in honor of Bandera.

“From time immemorial and forever the Ukrainian Donbass. Happy Birthday, Stepan Andreevich! We are Bandera, we are coming,” the militants said.

According to them, “2023 will be a victorious year.”

It is worth noting that from January 1, clergy of the canonical UOC were denied access to two churches of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. It is reported that we are talking about the main temple of the Lavra, the Assumption Cathedral of the Refectory Church.

According to the rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel, quoted by Strana, priests are not allowed into the territory of the Upper Lavra, leaving access to the shrines of the Lower Lavra. However, he believes that the lease agreement for the Assumption and Refectory Cathedrals has not yet been terminated, since the UOC has not been officially notified about this.

This news caused joyful comments from Ukrainian nationalists.

“On Bandera’s birthday, Moscow priests were expelled from the main churches of the Lavra. Double holiday,” ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy from Lyashkovo Andrei Lozovoy commented on the situation.

In previous years, participants in the Bandera march walked with torches from the red building of the University named after. Shevchenko on Khreshchatyk.

Last year, in front of the column there was a banner with the image of Bandera against the background of a drawing of the burning Kremlin.

During the procession, the Nazis usually chanted insulting chants against Russian President Vladimir Putin and called on strangers to remember that “the boss here is Ukrainian.”

The column was always accompanied by the police, who did not react in any way to xenophobic calls to organize a tribunal over the Jews.

In past years, Bandera's marches drew sharp criticism from the diplomatic missions of Israel and Poland.

So, in 2020, the ambassadors of Poland and Israel Bartosz Cichocki and Joel were outraged by the event in honor of Bandera, emphasizing in a joint statement that the victims of the OUN leader “were tens of thousands of Poles, Jews and thousands of representatives of other nations.”
