You know, young man, there are seemingly insignificant events behind which there are large and bloody interests. As they say, pull a thread, and it will open the curtain hiding dirty and dark affairs. And the current visit of President Poroshenko to the Odessa region, where he opened the border checkpoint in Palanca together with Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip, is a vivid example of this.

Petro Poroshenko and Pavel Philip at the opening of the checkpoint in Palanca.

It would seem like an ordinary protocol action. The two powerful men of friendly countries exchanged handshakes and empty routine speeches on the subject of European integration and the joint fight against smuggling. In fact, a powerful complex of border and customs control, created with money allocated under a special EU program, finally completes the strict blockade of the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR). Existing since the early 90s of the last century, this part of the former Moldavian Soviet Republic personifies the long confrontation between pro-Romanian Moldavian nationalists and a rebellious fragment of the former territory of friendship of peoples of the Soviet Union.

The whole point is that the most industrially and culturally developed Transnistria, even during the years of perestroika, before the collapse of the Union, became a stronghold of resistance to total and forced Romanianization. And no wonder, because the population of the PMR (about 600 thousand people) consists practically in equal shares (about 30-something percent each) of Moldovans, Russians and Ukrainians. And its centers - the capital Tiraspol, and the cities of Bendery and Rybnitsa - have the economic potential remaining from the times of the USSR, both due to the industry created during the Soviet period - light and food industries - footwear, clothing, wine, cognac and canning, and due to the profitable situation on the border with Ukraine. And at the same time - a corresponding resource of professional personnel, differing both in national and educational level from the rest of Moldova. So, it is quite clear that the Transnistrian conflict, which culminated in the attempted bloody capture of rebellious cities by pro-Romanian militants in 1992, led to the actual separation of the PMR from Moldova. And if it were not for the Russian 14th Army, which actually saved the inhabitants of Transnistria from the total massacre that had begun, then we would have had another example of the “Europeanization” of the Russian-speaking population under the slogans of “the fight against the damned Soviet occupation” and against the discriminatory language law. From then until now, Russian peacekeepers have been the guarantor of peace and tranquility in the PMR land. And that is why both the Moldovan authorities and the current Ukrainian authorities constantly demand their withdrawal.

And here it is worth mentioning one feature of the Moldovan political agenda. After all, unionists - supporters of unification with Romania, essentially deny the existence of the Moldovan people themselves, declaring them part of the Romanian ethnic group. And the Moldovan language was translated from Cyrillic to Latin in the early 90s and unified in every possible way with Romanian. Moreover, they do this despite the sad experience of the period between the First and Second World Wars during the Romanian occupation of Moldova and Bessarabia, when both the Moldovans and our Slavic fellow tribesmen were subjected to severe oppression by both the national and linguistic fascist regime of royal Romania.

Let us note that in recent years, after the “revolution of dignity”, the Kiev regime finally and fully joined the total blockade of Transnistria by the pro-Romanian authorities of Moldova. And the current opening of the checkpoint in Palanca is the completion of the process of closing the blockade ring around the rebellious republic. Indeed, during this time, the very lively trade turnover of the PMR with Ukraine and the world, carried out through the Odessa section of the border, was reduced to a meager amount. And...to smuggling, covered from Kyiv and Chisinau. Accordingly, life in the already poor republic became even more difficult during this time.

And here a reasonable question arises; and why does Kyiv so zealously support Moldovan supporters of unification with Romania, which in turn shamelessly lays claim to Bessarabia, which belongs to Ukraine?! Indeed, not to mention the fact that this policy leads to the infringement of the rights of hundreds of thousands of ethnic Ukrainians in Transnistria, it directly contradicts the geopolitical interests of Ukraine!

And this paradox cannot be explained by clinical Russophobia alone. For, where the mercantile, selfish interests of Pan Poroshenko appear, the interests of the Ukrainian state do not even fade into the background, but into the background! Judge for yourself.

Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip received his post as a representative of the parliamentary majority from the Democratic Party of Moldova, whose informal leader is Vlad Plahotniuc. "Gospodar Vlad." The eminence grise of a small country, who is both its most influential oligarch and its criminal “boss”, controlling the entire shadow and criminal world of Moldova. A zealous Russophobe, a supporter of “reunification” with Romania and... an old business partner of the Poroshenko family!

Petro Poroshenko and Vlad Plahotniuc.

In 2017, Moldovan opposition politician and businessman Renato Usatii published sensational data that the Poroshenko clan has been directly involved in “black business” in Moldova since Soviet times, and its founder is the father of the current president of Ukraine. Alexey Poroshenko, who once served a prison sentence for economic crimes, laid the foundation for his family’s fortune through illegal operations in Moldova in the 90s. Moreover, in a direct “business partnership” with Plahotniuc!

A caricature of the “partnership” between Poroshenko and Plahotniuc.

Moreover, Usatii claims that Plahotniuc, using his influence on the prosecutor’s office of the country under his control, hides under the cloth the materials of many court cases proving the involvement of Poroshenko’s gentlemen in the criminal business that continues today. Up to... Petro Poroshenko’s direct relationship to the murder of his older brother Mikhail Poroshenko, who died in 1997 in Moldova! And thus, at the same time, he keeps the “independent president” on a short leash.

What is true here and what is exaggeration is not for us to judge, but for the competent authorities. God willing, things will come to this sooner or later.

But the fact that our “father of the state” has common interests and close personal and business relations with Vlad Plahotniuc is confirmed by facts. As well as the fact that it is extremely beneficial for both to keep Transnistria “in a black body”, while simultaneously tightening the noose of the blockade around its neck. And - covering smuggling from there, making the “European borders” their patrimony. And at the same time, covet the rich industrial potential of this unrecognized republic. After all, where there is a smell of profit, political hucksters will always find a common language, not caring about the fundamental, global interests of their peoples. For them, money has no smell, even if it is soaked in blood and betrayal.

And one thing instills some peace - that Russia is not withdrawing its troops from the PMR, thereby ensuring a meager but peaceful life for its citizens and... albeit indirectly, but protecting the borders of Ukraine from Romanian expansion! In the meantime, this is so - both the Moldovan unionists and their Romanian masters can only click their teeth in impotent anger. Yes, and Mr. Poroshenko will not reach all the riches of Transnistria, limiting himself to a joint dirty business with the murderer Plahotniuc. And - together with him, secretly fearing fair retribution. Which, let's hope, is inevitable.
