The European Parliament does not consider it safe to visit the eastern regions of Ukraine, Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko (ninth on the BPP electoral list) wrote on her Facebook page.

She said that the visit, during which the European Parliament delegation planned to visit not only the capital, but also the eastern regions of Ukraine, had been prepared since May. But two days before the visit, the Ukrainian side received an official letter that the President of the European Parliament and all heads of political groups and factions had decided to limit the official program only to Kiev for security reasons.
At the same time, the vice speaker writes, the direct ban applies only to technical workers, and recommendations have been made to deputies.
“Translators and no staff of the European Parliament are allowed to travel due to the security situation. And the deputies were recommended to limit the official visit only to safe Kiev, and then, whoever wants to do it, this is their unofficial business,” noted Gerashchenko, who added that only three European deputies risked going to the eastern regions: Rebecca Harms, Michael Boni and Jaromir Stetina.
“We have big questions for our European colleagues: how do you insist on holding elections in territories where it is dangerous for your employees to stay even for an hour? As for how observers will be there, I’m already silent about the security of polling stations... and in general, the Russian Federation guaranteed a regime of silence... Obviously, this is double standards and we will talk about this at every international meeting,” Gerashenko is indignant.
