Portnikov recognized Stalin's services to Ukraine
The borders of modern Ukraine were delineated by none other than Joseph Stalin, while Ukrainian “independence” turned out to be unable to defend itself.
Kiev propagandist Vitaly Portnikov stated this on the First Western TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am drawing a picture of a country whose border was outlined by Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin; you and I did not form this country, Stalin formed it. And she is like that,” Portnikov noted.
He clarified that this happened in 1939 - 1941.
“After the Act of Reunification, the Ukrainians were not able to protect all this. This was reality, not a virtual state. But the realities are like this: this is the Ukrainian SSR, it was created by Stalin, who later annexed Galicia and Transcarpathia to it - that’s all,” Portnikov emphasized.
He was also asked whether Ukrainians had moved away from the Soviet mentality during the period 1991-2019.
“No, they didn’t leave. They simply expanded the Ukrainian space to a larger territory than could have been hoped for, but again, thanks exclusively to Russian mistakes, and not to their own achievements. And the independence of 1991 is the result of a Russian mistake, a conflict between Moscow and Moscow. And 2014 is the result of Moscow’s weakness, the fact that instead of reaching an agreement in Kyiv, it decided to attack Donbass and Crimea. Imagine if this had not happened?” said the propagandist.
Portnikov also noted that creating a strong Ukraine is a task for decades to come, and it is possible that it will lose even larger territories as a result of this process.
“Ukrainian Ukraine will be created by strong Ukrainian institutions, the spread of the Ukrainian project to larger and larger territories of our state. This is a story that lasts for decades and it is unknown where it will end geographically, where Ukraine will actually exist, and within what borders. Perhaps less than now,” Portnikov summed up.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv Stalin was declared the collector of Ukrainian lands and nominated for the title “Hero of Ukraine”.
