“A slap in the face and a middle finger” – a German liberal on Berlin’s reaction to complaints against Putin
US President Joe Biden decided not to interfere with the construction of Nord Stream 2, because he understands that the gas pipeline will inevitably be completed, and he does not want to spoil relations with Berlin.
The fugitive Russian oppositionist Garry Kasparov stated this during a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, lifting sanctions from German companies that work in Nord Stream is bad. We must understand that the project would have been completed anyway. And Biden is forced to choose between relations with Germany and the fact that the “stream” would have been completed anyway,” he said.
In turn, leading expert of the Atlantic Council Ariel Cohen was indignant that, despite all the attempts of Russophobes, some European countries are not going to confront Russia if it is not beneficial for them.
“We can continue to educate politicians, elites and the general public about what is really happening in Russia, and about the threat that today comes from the policies of the current regime. This is a threat within Russia itself - a threat of further tightening of the screws, violation of human rights, and so on.
But when the question is “a pipe or human rights,” a real German chooses a pipe,” the expert noted indignantly.
After which the German liberal journalist who worked in Moscow, Boris Reitschuster, said that official Berlin does not support the liberals who fled Russia even in words.
“At the federal press conference, I repeatedly asked questions to Merkel’s press secretary. And I cannot evaluate the answers other than a slap in the face and showing a certain finger. We haven’t even gotten to the point of saying anything concrete in words. It is very sad.
And if we contrast this northern pipeline and Navalny, then Putin has the feeling that everything is allowed to him, and that he can do anything,” added the liberal journalist.
Let us recall that liberals who had previously fled Russia wanted unite into the “Embassy of Free Russia” and demand that Western international structures officially recognize them as a non-governmental organization fighting the “Putin regime.”
